Acupressure for Eye Health
January 14, 2014
Let's face it, we spend a lot of time staring at screens - computers, smart phones, TV's, etc.
We've all experienced the headaches, irritation, dry eyes, red eyes, and fatigue from prolonged computer use - also known as Computer Vision Strain (CVS).
In addition to the common signs of CVS, more and more young people - addicted to their digital screens - are developing some serious degenerative eye diseases; the kind of eye diseases you typically see in the elderly (e.g. detached retinas, posterior vitreous detachment, etc.).
My hypothesis is that this is due to the excessive amount of time spent staring at those screens.
It's important to take frquent breaks. Taking 20 seconds, every 20 min., to look away from your computer and stare off into the distance (at least 20ft.) is enough to relax the eyes and decrease strain. Just remember 20/20/20!
